History

Our Story

2005 Roots in the Traditional Market

Clout King originated from the iconic cultural backdrop of Northern California. Founded by Isaiah Dawid, affectionately known as "Z," our brand's journey began in 2005 when he embarked on mastering the art of indoor and mixed-light cultivation in Santa Cruz, later expanding to the hills of Mendocino, where he expanded his skillset in outdoor cultivation.

2015 Adversity and Advocacy

The early journey in the cannabis industry was fraught with challenges, including raids and legal battles, as the market began its move from the black market to legalization. By 2015, motivated by the adversities he faced, Z became politically active, joining the board of Responsible Cultivation Santa Cruz (RCSC). His engagement was part of a broader effort to navigate the shifting legal landscapes and ensure a place for traditional cannabis culture within the new regulatory framework.

2017 A Brand is Born

2017 was a pivotal year for Clout King. It marked the launch of Z's satirical Instagram account, which quickly gained notoriety for its irreverent commentary on corporate cannabis (also including making fun of the trials of growing and selling cannabis in the traditional market). This platform not only showcased his bold and unapologetic humor but also set the stage for the birth of Clout King as a brand. By 2018, Z released Clout King’s first branded flower in California. The launch featured the brand’s original hit, Peanut Butter Cup, an extremely flavorful strain that has a steady demand to this day. This cheeky initiative, backed by fire genetics and cutting-edge cultivation techniques, officially marked the launch of the Clout King product line.

2020 Pioneering New Frontiers

After establishing a strong foundation in California, Z led Clout King's strategic expansion into Michigan, forming a partnership with Emerald Growth Partners. During this transformative period, Z assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer, directly overseeing the cultivation of Clout King strains under Emerald Growth Partners license. Together with his head grower, Kenny, they focused on refining Clout King's proprietary cultivation processes. Their collaborative efforts were pivotal in meticulously fine-tuning their Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring that Clout King's reputation for exceptional quality was maintained as they ventured into new territories.

2021 Expanding the Clout Kingdom

In 2021, Clout King successfully expanded its reach into the competitive Washington, Oklahoma, and Oregon markets. In 2024, we proudly launched in Nevada, expanding Clout King's distinct brand ethos to new audiences. With Arizona on the horizon for 2025, we’re poised to further solidify our industry leadership.

Isaiah Dawid
President / Founder

Since 2005, Isaiah has cultivated exclusive cannabis genetics, emphasizing consistency and quality. He has built multiple successful brands, including Clout King, and grown his influence through social media, significantly impacting the industry.

Stan Shore
Vice President

Stan joined Clout King six years ago as Chief Legal Officer, bringing 17 years of legal expertise and an eye for opportunity and risk. Over time, he expanded his role beyond to drive business development and strengthen the supply chain. Now serving as Vice President, Stan continues to play a key role in Clout King's strategic growth and positioning.

Sequoia Anderson
Director of Cultivation

With 10 years of experience in high-end cannabis cultivation, Sequoia excels in indoor growing, IPM, and quality control. He has managed over 300,000 square feet of canopy and is key to implementing Clout King's cultivation and quality standards, sharing his extensive knowledge with cultivation partners.

Mel Freeborn
Director of Operations

Mel joined Clout King in 2022 as Director of Operations to streamline organization and communication. With a decade in the industry, she excels in scaling start-ups and ensuring efficiency. Mel manages production planning, sales, packaging, brand ambassadors, and retail relationships.
